The Hancock County Sheriff's Department Honor Guard was formed in 1987. The team was re-established in 2001. With the re-establishment of the Honor Guard, the Sheriff and current member of the team decided to commemorate Corporal Danny Garrison, which passed away on-duty from a heart attack on January 1, 2000, by naming the team "The Garrison Honor Guard".
The Honor Guard is currently made up of 10 members from the within patrol division, K9 division, jail division, Investigations, and administration. All members are assigned distinctive dress uniforms and equipment. All members are also assigned to the Indiana Sheriff's Association honor guard. Which was developed in 2013 to serve all Sheriff Agencies' in the state of Indiana to assist in line of duty deaths. The honor guard participates in local ceremonies as well as state and national. They are deployed on all state law enforcement officer deaths and can be detailed to out of state law enforcement deaths at the discretion of the administration. Our honor guard also is involved in ceremonies involving retired Deputy's of the Hancock County Sheriff's Department.
