Hancock County Public Defender

Hancock County Public Defender Office-01

The Hancock County Public Defender Office, founded in January 2022, is funded by the citizens of Hancock County, the Indiana Public Defender Commission, and the court-ordered contributions of our clients.  The Office is directed by the appointed Chief Public Defender under the guidance of a three-member Board.

We represent indigent clients in the Hancock County Circuit and Superior Courts.  Our office provides experienced representation in felony, misdemeanor, juvenile and criminal appeal matters.  Additionally, we handle termination of parental rights cases, children in need of services cases and mental health commitments.  Our office is regulated with caseload limits as determined by State guidelines to ensure competent counsel for the indigent.

We are committed to providing trusted, experienced criminal defense to the indigent citizens of Hancock County.
